About The Florist Wrap Shop

Material Guide

What does "mic" mean?

Mic = micron (µm) — a unit of thickness. 1 micron = 0.001 mm. The higher the number, the thicker and stronger the film. You'll see this on all our film and plastic products.

20–25 mic

Very light — ideal for single stems or a barely-there finish
30–35 mic

Everyday standard — the most popular choice for bouquet wrapping
40–50 mic

Thick & sturdy — heavier bouquets, roll dispensers, extra protection

What does "gsm" mean?

GSM = grams per square metre — a measure of paper weight. The higher the gsm, the thicker and more substantial the paper feels. Found on all our paper sheets and eco-specialty papers.

40–50 gsm

Lightweight tissue — soft and delicate, great for loose layered wrapping
55–70 gsm

Medium weight — the sweet spot for most bouquet sheets, good drape
80–100+ gsm

Heavier paper — substantial feel, suits gift bags and structured wrapping

Film & plastic materials

FILM

BOPP

Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene

The most widely used film in floral packaging. BOPP is a thin, flexible polypropylene film that wraps beautifully around bouquets — water-resistant, easy to cut, and available in clear (classic, shows off the flowers) or matt/frosted (modern, premium feel).

Water-resistant Clear or matt Lightweight Easy to fold
Best for: Sleeves, prefolds, sheets and rolls — all occasions and bouquet types. 35 mic BOPP is the everyday industry standard.
Handle: No special care needed. Cuts cleanly with scissors or a dispenser knife. Available in recycled versions (RBOPP) — see below.

ECO FILM

RBOPP

Recycled BOPP — 70–90% post-consumer recycled plastic

The same great BOPP film, made from post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR). Up to 90% of the material is reclaimed and reprocessed. A direct, like-for-like swap — no change to how you work, far lower environmental impact.

70–90% recycled Lower CO₂ Water-resistant Clear or matt
Best for: Any florist wanting to reduce plastic waste without changing their workflow. Handles exactly the same as standard BOPP.

FILM

CPP

Cast Polypropylene

Softer and more flexible than BOPP. CPP drapes naturally and has a silky feel. Because it's cast (not stretched), it conforms gently around bouquets without the stiffness of BOPP — good for a softer, flowing wrap.

Soft drape Moisture-resistant Flexible
Best for: Sleeves and wraps where a natural, soft feel matters.
Handle: Folds without cracking. Easy to work with by hand — no dispenser needed.

FILM

HDPE

High-Density Polyethylene

A strong, slightly waxy plastic with a characteristic frosted appearance and a soft crinkle sound. Highly water- and moisture-resistant — excellent for vase bags and transport situations where flowers come into contact with water.

Waterproof Strong Recyclable — symbol #2
Best for: Vase bags and transport sleeves. The crinkle texture also adds a decorative tactile effect.

Handle: Wipe dry after use.

Recycling — what does #2 mean?
The number 2 inside the recycling triangle on the packaging is a plastic type code. It means this material is HDPE — one of the most widely accepted plastics in household recycling across Europe. Your customers can place it in their normal recycling bin at home. No special drop-off needed. Look for the triangle with a 2 inside it on the product.

FILM

LDPE

Low-Density Polyethylene

The softest and most flexible polyethylene film — similar in feel to a carrier bag. LDPE stretches easily, is moisture-proof, and is very gentle on flower stems. Used where soft, pliable film is more important than rigidity.

Very soft Moisture-proof Stretchy
Best for: Gentle protective wrapping and vase bags where flexibility is key.
Handle: Avoid sharp edges — LDPE can tear more easily than PP-based films.

How to read the recycling column
Recycled option available — we stock a version of this film made from recycled plastic. A direct swap, same performance.
Home recycling bin — this film can go in your customer's regular household recycling bin. Look for the triangle with a number inside it on the product — HDPE carries the number 2, which is one of the most widely accepted plastics in European recycling programmes.
Check locally — accepted in many areas but varies by municipality. Advise customers to check what their local council accepts, or take it to a plastic film recycling point (often found at supermarkets).
Not yet — no recycled version of this material is currently available in our range.
